kendall | 6 months

Happy little Kendall is 6 months old already! What stands out to be are those bright blue eyes! They are absolutely gorgeous and seem to have a twinkle to them. That's always the first thing I notice when photographing people, and Kendall's are unforgettable. Jessica said she likes to dress her in blue because it matches her eyes so well, and I couldn't agree more. We had a nice afternoon to spend at the canal a couple of weeks ago!

I love that smile, Kendall!

lydia | fortheloveofandrea.com

Last Saturday night, a lot of people's lives were turned upside down because of the stage collapse at the Sugarland concert at the Indiana State Fair. I got a call in Seattle from my shaken-up mom asking me to keep the Voss/Vellinga family in my prayers. I had no idea what had happened because I was thousands of miles away in a different timezone. As I prodded for clarification from her, she described the tragic events to me and went on to say that Andrea's parents had not heard from her and that she had been at the concert. I, of course, said a little prayer to myself and we went onto dinner as planned. I found myself not able to eat anything because I had a sick feeling in my stomach about Andrea and her friends that were at the concert. It was just an hour earlier that I had seen a photo pop-up on facebook of the girls at the concert, with what appeared to be beautiful summer skies in the background. After what seemed like an eternity, I got word that they had finally identified Andrea at Methodist hospital in downtown Indianapolis. She suffered a severe head trauma and was immediately rushed into the operating room for brain surgery.

The Voss family has been friends of our for a long time. In our time of need when my dad passed away, I mainly worried about my mom being alone. But Sandi and Steve have ALWAYS been there for my mom. Steve and Sandi often take my mom out to dinner, or just give my mom a simple call to check-in and see how things are going. Sandi has been the best friend for my mom and I am comforted to know that people like the Sandi are around to keep an eye on her. In a tragedy like the event on Saturday, you instantly want to help or do something, but often you're not sure what you can do. Not only is the entire family in my thoughts and prayers, but as a mother myself, I'm worried about Lydia (Andrea's daughter). She knows that mommy was hurt and that the doctors are taking really good care of her, but you know there's got to be more than just that running through a 4 year old's head. I know that so many people are really looking out for her, which is comforting to know, but I wanted to help out in any way that I could. This afternoon, I met Mike's mom (Mike is Andrea's husband), Judy, and Lydia at the hospital and we headed down to the canal for a quick photo shoot. I thought Lydia might enjoy getting out a bit and seeing the fun things along the canal. I think she had a good time seeing all of the people and dogs! I will be getting some prints made of the photos below and delivering them to Andrea's hospital room in hopes that they are good therapy for her when she's able to wake up from her medically induced coma.

Please, please pray for this family, whether you know them or not. Andrea is about the nicest, outgoing, most vivacious person I have ever met. She and the family need all of the prayers they can get. A friend has made a website for Andrea and you can checkout updates there: www.fortheloveofandrea.com

Meet Mike and Andrea's sweet little Lydia! I took my iPad so Lydia could write a note to her mommy for a picture:)

Judy bought her a Strawberry Chill to enjoy in the heat we had this afternoon. Lydia was pretty happy about that!

I asked Lydia how old she was and she concentrated as she lifted one finger at a time!

Then I asked for a silly face...

Thank you so much for your help, Judy, and willingness to get Lydia ready for the shoot. Mike, Sandi, Steve, Tyler, Lori, Judy and Mike, I continue to pray everyday for Andrea's recovery. Thinking of you.

jack & georgia

I've had the privilege of watching these two kiddos grow up! In fact, I've photographed Georgia since she was about a week old. Time just flies to think that she's a little lady now! And Jack, he's quite a character. I can't believe he just started kindergarten. Anne and Dave are such awesome people, and their two adorable kids are a reflection of them. They're all so easy to photograph these days...the kids just step right up and put on a show for me:)

Doesn't get much better than this...

Georgia (better known as "peach") has the cutest personality. She really rocked the shoot this time!

Jack is such a handsome young man.
