seth | newborn

It's crazy to think that one of my best friends growing up is now a mommy! Katie and I were pretty much inseparable. In fact, she was a bridesmaid in our wedding! Katie and Josh recently welcomed baby Seth into this world, and I can't decide who he resembles more. There's one thing I expected for sure, and that's that Seth would have big, beautiful eyes just like his mommy and daddy. He is just adorable and it was so great catching up with Katie and Josh.

Meet the little fella...Seth! TOTALLY posing for the shot.

As I was working on all of Seth's photos, I realized that he is quite animated already. He just looks like he's up to something here:)

(1)

Maybe he will grow up to be a boxer, judging by the jab he looks like he's about ready to throw!

This one cracks me up. Seth wasn't too happy at this point (perhaps he was terrified of my giant, heavy camera directly above him), so Josh knelt down to calm him. Looks like Josh has the touch because Seth stopped crying...although you can still see the terror in his eyes.

The happy family:)

Thanks so much, Josh and Katie! It was so good to see you, and I'm excited to get to see you every three months (at the least) to capture Seth's first year. He's a sweet little guy and I couldn't be happier for you. Maybe our kids will be playmates and Seth can teach my little one all of the 'big kid' tricks. Enjoy your slideshow!

I can't believe I'm going to share this here (Kate, please don't kill me). Coincidentally, I came across this old photo just days before our shoot, as Simon and I were cleaning the basement in our house. That's Katie on the left (holding one of my little cousins) and me on the right. I thought this was so fitting to post here since Katie had just become a mommy herself days before I found this, and I am about to be a mommy in December! Katie, this is proof that you have nothing to worry about when it comes to motherhood, since you've been practicing for YEARS! (I have on an I.O.U. sweatshirt and a nice scrunchy in my hair. Lovely.)

halle, grant & jenna

Halle, Grant Jenna are the reason I am a photographer! My cousin, Erin (also the kids' mom) asked me to take a ride to an apple orchard with them several years ago to take photos of the kids. Little did I know that they would get emailed around to friends and friends of friends. One day I got a call from a complete stranger who had seen their apple orchard photos, and she asked me to take photos of her little baby. I was completely caught off-guard, didn't know what to say, what to charge, I wasn't a "professional photographer," I mean, I hadn't even thought of starting my own business. Well needless to say, things snowballed from there and just a few years later I'm sitting here at home editing more photos of my little cousins, doing this full-time, loving what I do, and feeling so fortunate to have such cute cousins that helped launch my business!

It was a little hot. Actually, it was dreadful out the morning we were shooting. Grant kept wanting to take his shirt off because he was so hot, so you'll see that in the end Erin and I let him take some shots like a shirtless, macho man. ha! The kids were great, and I think we got some cute ones!

Meet Grant, Halle and Jenna!

Jenna actually had tons of dirt all over her legs here. I was cracking up as I was editing. Thank the Lord for photoshop!

Grant's a pretty serious little dude when it comes to having his picture taken.

And Halle is always a little model!

Grant thought this place rocked because there were trains going by as we were shooting! (slowly, very slowly of course).

Wondering where she thought she was heading?? Looks like she's heading for a night out on the town with that fancy purse!

Thanks so much for meeting me guys! You were perfect angels, and great little models. I hope you enjoy your slideshow! (And in memory of the King of Pop, I've created the slideshow to the music of The Jackson 5. Man, what a talented, talented person. I would have given anything to see him perform in my lifetime. R.I.P. Michael Jackson).

laney & emma | twins

Last weekend I spent time in Chicago shooting a wedding! It just so happens that one of my families that I've worked with over the past couple of years lived very close to where the wedding was. Although I've done all of their previous shoots here in Indy, this time I shot at their home in Lake Forest! And since I last saw them in the Fall, they've added not only one new family member...but TWO! They welcomed twin girls, Laney & Emma, into their family in May! It was a privilege to get to meet the little cuties, who are now 6 weeks old, and also to see Mr. Charlie, who is getting so big!

Meet the girlies, Emma (left) and Laney (right)! Megan is a twin herself, so it definitely runs in the family!

Laney has a full head of beautiful hair!

Charlie's little sisters...

I cannot believe how good Megan looks after giving birth to twins only 6 weeks ago! Wow, I hope it's that easy for me:)

I loved their dresses. Laney had an "L" and Emma had an "E" on their dresses.

I had to go back through the photos so I knew whose toes belonged to who!

Thanks so much for having me, Megan and Brent! It was great to meet you guys in your neck of the woods this time. I hope you enjoy your slideshow!
