out.of.office

I will be out of the office from Wednesday September 1st through Wednesday September 8th. We're headed to Charleston, South Carolina for a little r&r with my family. Lets just hope Hurricane Earl decides to head a different direction! I'll be posting lots and lots of shoots when I return--thank you for your patience! And because blog posts are more interesting with a photo, here is a shot the we snapped last month on our California trip--also, Jude's first flight. I'm hoping tomorrow's flight is as successful as this one:) (please excuse the poor quality...this was shot with my iPhone!)

kyle & mary | proposal

My brother Kyle proposed to his girlfriend last night! Kyle planned out every detail and things fell into place perfectly! Mom, Jess, the kids and I all loaded up the car and headed to Ft Wayne last night. Mary knew he would probably propose sometime in the near future, but had NO IDEA that it would happen on a random Tuesday night in August! He really got her good! On my drive to meet my sister and mom, I was talking to Kyle about the plans, and he asked me to photograph the proposal. Of course I said YES, but unfortunately I didn't have my giant zoom with me. So, I made due with what I brought and Kyle positioned me where I could be hidden the entire time...you see, Mary had no idea that we were going to be there. So even after the actual proposal, she thought that the two of them were meeting up with another couple for dinner--little did she know that we would ALL (us including HER whole family) would be at the restaurant. So I had to shoot from behind a bush that was really far away from them, and then also sneak away afterwards so I could get to the restaurant before they arrived. It was so much fun to be a part of, and I couldn't be happier with the girl that Kyle chose to bring into our family. She's perfect in every way!

Ok...this is shot from WAY far away behind a bush. You can still see that this is the moment where Kyle is on one knee asking her to marry him:) (They are on a cool bridge during a bike ride in downtown Ft Wayne).

my little family | laguna beach shoot

This just MADE MY DAY! While we were in Laguna Beach, we had family photos taken. Our FIRST family photo shoot! I hired the lovely, Chenin Boutwell! She was wonderful, flexible (after our flight got cancelled and she willingly moved the date of our shoot), 6 months pregnant, under the weather...but she came through for us, and I am so so happy with the results. I basically just wanted some family shots that portrayed our love for Jude, and wow...that's what we got! I couldn't be happier:) Go checkout her work, she's amazing!
